Andrea Delogu is a visual artist, filigree craftsman (gold and silversmith) and cutler from Sardinia. He graduated from the Foiso Fois Art School in Cagliari/Sardinia, his teachers were the legendary masters of Sardinian filigree, Bruno Busonera and Galdino Saba. Among other things, he has mastered processing techniques, such as how to create authentic masterpieces by hand from precious metals according to thousand-year-old traditions.
As a child, Andrea Delogu gained initial experience in working with materials such as wood, horn and metal from his father. His grandmother recognized his artistic talent and enabled him to train with the most famous goldsmith artist in Sardinia, Atelier Orafo Bruno Busonera. He learned the traditional Sardinian goldsmith's and silversmith's art, fine work of filigree and small-scale production of wax models. Then he decided to study at the Art School Foiso Fois in Cagliari, which he graduated with a diploma in art.
After graduating, he became self-employed in the arts
and crafts. He built filigree pieces of jewelry in gold and silver as well as unique knives in his personal design. His customers were mainly wealthy private individuals and goldsmiths. Even Giesse Galdino Saba used his services. He was so impressed by his craftsmanship that he offered him a collaboration. This paved the way for Andrea Delogu to share her knowledge with one of the most famous goldsmith artists. He learned the art of transforming precious metals into authentic masterpieces according to a thousand-year tradition and is able to continue to cultivate the great tradition of Sardinian filigree goldsmith art using the ancient granulation technique and on the other hand the ancient art from Egypt or the Phoenicians, the Etruscans or the Byzantines executed to perfection down to the smallest detail.
Now he wants to design and produce contemporary goldsmith art in a modern design with these processing methods steeped in history and tradition. His vision is to find a foundation between tradition and modernity, for building a bridge between classical and contemporary art.
Together with his customers, Andrea Delogu plans unique pieces of jewelry, then the production takes place in antique or modern design, according to millennia-old manufacturing techniques (Egyptian, Phoenician, Etruscan, Byzantine) completely by hand by the artist himself.
