In the middle of the last century fragments of a destroyed ring appeared in the capital of Sardinia, Cagliari, belonging to the legendary goldsmith artist Galdino Saba.Nobody knew the origin and the past of this jewel. The fine filigree, the tiny granulation, indicated a historical work of art by a great ancient master, but nobody wanted to go to the trouble of an elaborate reproduction. After decades of oblivion, Galdino Saba instructed his artistic pupil Andrea Delogu to attempt a reproduction of the gold ring. With infinite artistic flair and expertise, he managed to create a sketch of the ring that was true to the original. However, no one was able to create this work of art in all its details.
25 years have passed since then and Andrea Delogu, who has meanwhile matured into a unique goldsmith artist, received the offer from Hand.Werk.Haus Bad Goisern to present his art in the special exhibition "LITERALLY MASTERFUL".The difficulty here: how can manual work be made visible in the micromillimeter range.Andrea Delogu decided to recreate this unique gold ring and at the same time to document his work for the exhibition in drawings and photographs.
